First of all Happy 60th Independence Day to all my fellow Indians.
“R”
On this occasion I want to share what is going in my mind right now.
We all know the political meaning of Independence but what about
Personal Independence? And by personal independence I don’t only mean by
having a job, earning and spending the money as you wish.
A lot of other things are associated with this word. For some people
Independence is being self dependent, for some people it means being
allowed to come home late night or whenever they like after parties or
hanging out friends, for some is being able to spend money however they
like and to be not answerable to anyone. Allowed to wear any kind of
dress will be independence for some people etc etc etc.. it is a long
list.
But do you use your freedom in a sensible way? The way you use your
independence tells a lot of things about your character whether anyone
is watching you or not. Because not everyone gets the freedom they
desire. There are a lot of social issues, family issues due to which many
people are stuck doing those things which they don’t want to, taking
responsibilities for which they aren’t prepared or they had some other
plans for themselves but they can’t afford to act upon it because of
time or money or family restrictions or something else. For example, a
woman wants to do a job but her husband restricts her, a girl wants to
study further but father denies her, a boy wanting to pursue a different
career than his family business but he is forced to stick to the so
called “khaandani business” , want to marry someone but family
barrier…and so on.. you can see these examples all around you and I bet
you know some of these people and you can relate to them.
So don’t you think that you must consider yourselves lucky that you have
that independence. And I just want to say, please do not misuse the
independence given by your parents or spouses or girlfriend or
boyfriend.(No Cheating guys and girls you know what i mean) Be trustworthy & loyal and make good decisions.
Have a nice day.“R”
